Early spring
Design and build
We start by looking at what you've got. Where the sun lands, how much room there is, and what you actually like to eat. Then the beds get built and set in place.
Spring
Soil and planting
Beds are filled with soil chosen for what's going into them. This is the part people skimp on, and the part that decides your first year. Then we plant: what goes where, and what follows it once the first crop is done.
Summer
Weeding
We come back and stay on top of it. That's most of it, honestly. Weeding is the unglamorous half of a garden, and it's why so many of them quietly give up in July.
Late summer
Picking
Things come out when they're ready, which is a narrower window than people expect. A week either side and a tomato is a different thing entirely.
Autumn
Canning and closing down
Whatever you can't eat fresh goes into jars. Then the beds are cut back and covered, so spring starts from something that came through the winter in good shape.

Before you ask
Common questions
- Do you just build the bed, or look after it too?
- Either. Some people want one bed built and that's the end of it. Others hand us the whole season: we fill it, plant it, weed it, pick it, can what comes off it and close it down in autumn. You decide where we stop.
- Do I need to know what to plant?
- No. Working that out is one of the jobs. Tell us what your household actually eats and we'll map out what goes in, where, and what follows it.
- How much of my time does this take?
- As little as you want. If we're doing the upkeep, the garden runs without you. Plenty of people like to do the picking themselves and hand over the weeding, which is fine too.
- Why are there no prices on this page?
- Because they'd be guesses. Sun, space, drainage and how much of the season you want covered all move the number. We come and look, then give you one price.
